International Conference on “Promoting the Development of Renewable Energy Sources and Improvement of Energy Efficiency at the Community Level in Central Asia”

In Dushanbe, on 20 – 21 October, was held international conference on “Promoting the Development of Renewable Energy Sources and Improvement of Energy Efficiency at the Community Level in Central Asia”, which is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan jointly with the United Nations Development Programme in Tajikistan in partnership with the Michigan State University, the Institute for Global Engagement and the Sistemavtomatika Company.
The purpose of the conference is to promote sustainable energy (development of Renewable Energy Sources and Improvement of Energy Efficiency) at the community level in Central Asia and demonstrating needs, potential and real opportunities for that.
The conference will bring together policy makers, programme/project developers, investors, experts from academic and research institutions of all five Central Asian states, Afghanistan, the United States and the European Union, as well as representatives of small and medium enterprises and NGOs in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, and representatives of international development and financial organizations, including international and bilateral donors, International Finance Institutions (IFI), and Microloan Institutions (MFI).
