Tajikistan Water Supply and Sanitation (TajWSS) Project

Tajikistan Water Supply and Sanitation (TajWSS) Project

The Water Sector Reform Programme by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, signed in 2015, is a major milestone for the country to achieve the objectives set for 2015-2030. This document provides great opportunities to improve water resources management and its use in a sustainable manner, whereby addressing current needs should not and must not compromise the needs of the future generations.

UNDP support in this sector is primarily focused on policy making and governance on the national level to establish unified policy, strengthen coordination at all levels, develop effective regulatory framework and engage private sector.

The aim of this Swiss funded project is also to document and publish field experiences so it can contribute to improved practices on a larger scale. The overall result expected is improved access to water and sanitation for rural population.

We also provide extensive support through joint Tajikistan Water Supply and Sanitation project, to improve access to clean, piped water for rural population and to establish and develop a policy dialogue platform for drinking water and sanitation.
