Chris Politis

Prior to his assignment as the Deputy Resident Representative in our Country Office in 2019, Chris served as Chief Technical Advisor of Governance for UNDP in Ethiopia. He has more than 15 years of accumulated experience in various development contexts from least developed to low- and middle-income countries. A staunch advocate of Human Rights, Equality, Inclusivity, and very attached to Environmental Sustainability, he has provided high-level technical advisory services to senior decision makers and supported reforms and peacebuilding initiatives in various countries throughout his career.

Chris holds a Master’s degree and a Diplome d’Etudes Approfondies (DEA) in Political Science and comes from a Governance and Public Administration Reform background. He has contributed to supporting the development of public policies at country as well as regional levels promoting democratic participation, human rights, local development, integrity and accountability in the public service and most importantly effective and inclusive service delivery. Since joining UNDP in 2012, Chris has served in Iraq, Myanmar and Ethiopia. His earlier career path includes work at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and NGO sector. Chris is a Greek national and speaks fluent Greek, French, English and Arabic.
