UNDP and JICA hand over transport means and publishing equipment to the Border Forces of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan

19 units of vehicles, including ambulances, refrigerators, passenger and cargo minivans, as well as 16 types of printing equipment, including a digital duplicator, printers of various types and computers, in total value of USD 232,000 were handed over to the Border Forces of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of managing the Tajik border with Afghanistan, and promote cross-border cooperation and trade.

The equipment was provided by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) within the framework of the second phase of the project "Promoting cross-border cooperation through the effective management of the border of Tajikistan with Afghanistan", which is funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Border Forces of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel General Rajabali Rahmonali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Mr. Toshihiro Aiki, Chief Representative JICA Tajikistan Office Mr. Takasaka Muneo and Deputy Resident Representative (a.i.) in the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Giorgi Vardishvili.
